Evaluation of New High Entropy Alloy as Thermal Sprayed Bondcoat in Thermal Barrier Coatings

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) have great potential to be used as high-temperature materials and in coating material applications due their combination of strength, ductility, thermal stability, wear, oxidation resistance. In this work, a new HEA alloy based on NiCoCrAlSi composition was designed deposited into metallic coatings by high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) air plasma spray (APS) processes, with the aim developing bondcoats for barrier (TBC) systems. The were analyzed phases, microstructure using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). results showed that BCC phase is major present as-applied HVOF vacuum diffusion treated at 1080 °C. APS same two-phase structure consisting L12 BCC/B2 phases. produced tested resistance 1050 °C air, cycling TBC comprising HVOF-applied bondcoat standard 8YSZ ceramic topcoat. internal during exposure, but no significant failure after 100 cycles 1150
